CARLA STARLAweb / facebook / soundcloud

I get the opportunity to take my listeners on a very special journey.  Healing and rejuvenation through sound and dance is my purest intention. My lyrics are inspiring and my beats are steady, consistent and driving. As a DJ I get to move and create energy. It’s high, soulful, freeing and uplifting.  House music is known to be a very spiritual style of music. My job is to share that gift with the world to the best of my abilities. I’m always willing and very able. In 1988 I started my music career in Omaha Nebraska, singing and playing bass in a Ska Punk Band called The Conspiracy. In 1993 I found myself in Chicago singing background for the infamous Blue Meanies.

Finding my way along and more into the spotlight where I belonged. A co creation group called Stereotypes was formed with Damon Keller in 1994. Finding power in creating original music and songwriting, I played an integral role in booking Stereotypes many shows and raves around the Midwest in the early nineties working with groups like VBNTS Chicago and Eclectic Grooves. Stereotypes was ahead of our time. With a hip hop intelligent jungle fusion. I produced, sang, played violin, bass and samples. Stereotypes played with the greats like. Del The Funky Homosapien, Maseo of De La Sol and opened for Ms. Lady Kier of Delight at the Metro. that will always be my favorite show to date. In 1998 a decision to DJ came from my passionate love for House music. Finding a niche in singing and DJing, DJ Carla Starla was born. For the past thirteen years I have been doing just that. Playing at the world famous Burningman Festival, Rocking Smart Bar Chicago with the likes of Paul Johnson, Kaskade and DJ Heather. I have been a guest DJ at a many Freakeasy, Psymbolic and Brilliantlymad events. My passion to stay busy has me currently holding down monthly residencies at Cocktail Lounge in Boys Town Chicago, Flight 112 Wine Bar in Elmhurst IL., Underground Wonder Bar and Highball Lounge in Gold Coast Chicago the past 5 years.
