Chuck Daniels has been an apex of the Detroit dance music scene for decades. Whether it’s been behind the decks or behind the scenes, he has had his hand in hundreds of parties since the late 80’s. There are few clubs in Detroit he hasn’t played or hosted one of his famous Love The D or Sampled parties at. He’s booked some of the greats over the years, including Green Velvet, Mark Farina, & Derrick Carter. Sought out for his unique style of house music, Daniels has performed across North America and Europe,including the infamous Ministry of Sound nightclub, H20 in France, Fiasco parties in Glasgow, Scotland and Soulfully Yours in the Netherlands. Despite his worldwide appeal, Chuck has never forgotten about home, always eager to perform at clubs and partiesin his hometown of Motown, and has held residencies at the legendary Motor Lounge, Porter Street, and The Temple.

Chuck has made a major impact in the House music scene with highly regarded releases and remixes on a number of labels, including Warner Brothers, Industry Standard, OM, Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Classic, Robsoul, Guest House, Oomph and his own imprint, Sampled Detroit. Some of his most notable remixes include work with fellow artists Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr, DJ Sneak, Brett Johnson, John Larner and Lawn Chair Generals, just to scratch the surface. His work has been featured on compilations by some of House music’s heavy-hitters, including DJ Heather, Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Inland Knights, and a 50 Year Anniversary Collective for Technics Turntables. Chuck is constantly in the midst of many projects. He works with Jason Hodges as [Border Patrol] and most recently a release with Oliver $ which has somewhat of an anthem this year and has earned the #33 spot in Spin Magazine forbest dance song of 2015.

Apart – What was your very first DJ gig, and how old were you?
Chuck – I was about 14 my friend and I got hired to do a middle school dance

Apart – Since then, which artists have had the greatest impact on your decision to pursue being a DJ?
Chuck – I would have to say my friend Ross who I did that school dance with

Apart – Describe ‘your sound’ in three words for us.
Chuck – Detroit, Chicago, New York

Apart – Crucial sounds from all those cities! And what are your favorite 3 clubs/cities you’ve performed at?
Chuck – TV Lounge in Detroit, Primary in Chicago and H2o in Belgium before they closed 🙁

Apart – We love Detroit’s character & music. How was coming up as a dj there?
Chuck – being a Dj in Detroit is great it keeps me inspired seeing all the great talent we have here

Apart – Do you have any of recent productions out? If so on what labels?
Chuck – just had a single on @indstry_stndrd with @Oliverdollar and a remix of @johnnyfiasco Conduction out soon I’m excited about
