John Lagora was born in Oberhausen, Germany. His love for music started at the early age of 12 while he was listening to the early 90s Essential Mixes broadcasted by the British radio station Bfbs. Very early it got pretty clear that his passion meant more than just listening to music and so he started to look for possibilities to produce electronic music and to learn how to Dj.

15 years later, you can say that his passion for electronic music as well as his constant will to develop were absolutely worth it. Remixes for global players like Gayle San, releases on labels like Plus8 and Mindshake and collaborations with Paco Osuna are evidence of his continuously drive of passion. The list of remixers including world class artists like Maetrik aka Maceo Plex, Whebba,Renato Cohen or Sis who put their hands on his tracks is also remarkable.

Since 2010 he has constantly played as a live act or with his dynamic Dj sets at some of the best Spanish clubs including Elrow and Club 4 in Barcelona, Florida 135 or Sankeys in Ibiza.

His own label Seoul Community was just relaunched and reflects his entire definition of electronic music. The goal is to connect artists with each other, to have a good time and to create a friendly community.

Apart What / where / who was your first experience of electronic music?
John Lagora In the early 90’s cause of my older brother, he has always been a big fan of electronic music. We both had a tendency to buy tons of CD’s and vinyl as if they were going out of style.

Apart Which artists had the greatest impact on your decision to pursue being a DJ?
John Lagora I was a big fan of Carl Cox and Steve Mason in the early days. Steve had his own Radioshow on Uk’s Bfbs Radio. I remember when I was 11, I would record nearly every show in order to check out all the music. This had a great impact on my pursuit to become a producer and Dj.

Apart What are your top favorite 3 clubs (or cities) that you have performed at?
John Lagora One of my favs is Club4 in Barcelona, good vibes and always full of energy. Another one is Elrow Club in Barcelona, perhaps the craziest place i have ever played, its like Carnival all year. Also, recently I played Amnesia Milano another insane venue I like.

Apart What’s one place or club that you haven’t DJ’ed at yet, that you really want to?
John Lagora There are alot of cool clubs out there that are absolutely amazing. I think Amnesia Ibiza, Fabric London or Space, Miami would be one of my favourite places i would love to play.

Apart Do you have any of your productions out? If so on what labels?
John Lagora I have released Ep’s on Mindshake Records with Paco Osuna and done some remixes and tracks for labels like Yoshitoshi and KD Music. Really excited about my new track with Paco Osuna coming out on Richie Hawtin’s label, Plus8.

Apart When your not listening to electronic music, what do you like to listen to?
John Lagora I like a lot of music out there and am open minded from Rock to Ambient. I am a big fan of Coldplay, Chvches or Clams Casino just to name a few.

Apart Is there anything you are excited about coming to Milwaukee?
John Lagora Since I am German, I am really interested in seeing the German influence in Milwaukee as well as tasting the regional food. Also looking forward to see the nightlife over here.
